Aloha Friday was created by Kailani over at An Island Life.  Head on over to her blog, and answer he question of the week, then link up with a random question you may want to ask on your blog.  Hop along to other bloggers and answer random questions.  It's fun to play!

This weeks question:

Well, since I'm starting this new blog and starting a new me with my weightloss goals and lifestyle goals I could use some self esteem boost.  When I go out to eat at a restaurant, and order a drink, I sometimes get carded and sometimes don't.  It puzzles me, maybe it's just the way I look the particular night or maybe the waiter just wants to not get in trouble.  So, I'm going to be asking a personal question this week, and I hope it don't sound to vain, because I'm far from that.  Looking at my resent picture that I took (yes just a head shot),

How Old Do I Look?
(Trust me, I won't be offended if you guess over my actual age..lol)

Blog Hop Friday 12/31/10

I love to check out new blogs.  There are so many out there, and we seem to overlook a lot of good ones.  I also love to hear what many people do whether it's with their family, new crafts or dealing with their weight like me.  This blog is dedicated to my weight progress and family life.  Hope to have some new followers this week and hope to find some new blogs that I can follow as well.  Happy New Years to everyone!

Power of One Challenge - Week 1 Day 3

Well this morning hasn't started out to well.  5:30am my mom calls to tell me that my uncle, (her brother), passed away last night.  I was a little surprise since the last update I had was that he made it through surgery  and that the doctors were optimistic.  Guess they were wrong.  My uncle had a stroke a few weeks ago and it's been a roller coaster.  I wasn't that close to him, but he still was my uncle and I really feel for my cousin who is one year younger than me, and couldn't even imagine of what he's going through right now.

So besides the 5:30 phone call, I woke up with a stuffy nose again and a pounding headache.  My head cold is not helping me much with motivation.  Though, I am going to be going to my parents house today to meet up with my brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew for a fun day of out door play in the snow.  It's suppose to be in the mid 40's today, so the temperature will be perfect for outside sliding and snowman making!

My mom is making a big dinner tonight, so I really need to be careful with portion size.  Family gatherings always consist of huge meals.  Mom is planning on starting her diet tomorrow (New Years), then we'll be working together on motivation and support.  Plus when the temperatures are nice, we'll be walking, though that may not be until April.

So here I am again, showered, hair fix and make up on (it does help build self esteem),

I did manage to smile even with the stuffy nose and headache.

Tonight, I will be going to bed at normal time, not much of a night owl, not even on New Years Eve.  Though I wish everyone a Happy New Year and God Bless!

Power of One Challenge - Week 1 Day 2

I've decided that I'm going to post as often as I can about my ups and downs for the next eight weeks.  I may not be able to post everyday, but I sure am going to try.  Today started out lazy.  I woke up with a really stuffed up nose, can't breath at all, just a cold coming on.  But I'll be able to fight it off, I usually do.  So needless to say, I didn't sleep to well last night because of my stuffed up nose.  Trying to do a little housework, but I don't want to get to carried away, because that's when I'll end up getting really sick.  So I'm just taking it easy today, and try not to veg out to much.  Pumping a lot of vitamin C to fight the cold.

So around eleven o'clock I decided to take a shower and put some make up on.  I did this when I was doing the Flylady program (which will be one of my lifestyle goals in January), and when I did my hair and face I felt so much better about myself.  It's a real big motivator.  So here I am (just a head shot):

So I feel so much better now, and hopefully as I post day to day, and week to week, my face will thin out and my smile will get bigger!

Power of One Challenge - Week 1

I just started a new challenge over at the Sisterhood Of The Shrinking Jeans, called The Power of One Challenge!  I need a new start and this sounds perfect for me, and I really hope this will be the kickoff to a new me!  I have so many goals in mind, not just my weight but for my lifestyle too.  I'm scared and excited at the same time.  I'm scared because I'm always afraid of failing, and I'm excited because this could be the boost I need and by this summer, I could wear a bathing suit without a shirt over myself.

So the first thing I did this morning was step on my scales...ugh...those dreadful scales...I weighed in at...

211.6 pounds.

Here is my before picture (not a pretty one) :

I'm only going to start with 1 goal, mainly because when I set to many goals, I tend to overwhelm myself and then I give up.  So my first goal, since this is an eight week challenge, my first goal is to weigh in at 205 pounds at the end of the challenge.  Not a lot, but if I end up losing more, then that will be a perk!  Though I will set one long term goal, and that is, by June of 2011, I would like to pack up ALL of my 2X clothing and donated it to the Three Day Stampede (which is a charity event for MS).
